Launching The Explorer’s Wine Club

I always pay attention when a wine club member tells me why they are members. The most common reason is the variety of wines we offer. The stories are told with enthusiasm and relish about the first time they tasted Lagrein or when they shared their discovery of Touriga with a neighbor. That quest for new flavors is an itch I just can’t ignore. Since our inception, we have invited new varieties, appellations, and growers into our cellar, and while we share our discoveries with visitors in the tasting room, I am heartbroken when someone tastes a wine we have made for years and asks, “Why haven’t I seen this before?” It’s usually because the club members are from out of town, and their wine is shipped to them rather than them visiting the winery. After some thought, we have decided to make these small limited production wines available as an addition to an already established club membership. We call it the Explorer’s Wine Club, and this is how it will work. An additional wine will be released with each wine club for Explorer members. A list of limited production wines that will make up the Explorer’s Club follows. If you are an Explorer member, it will be handled the same way your wine club is. Either we will ship it to you along with your wine club or we will hold it with your wine club for you to pick up at the winery. If you are a standard wine club member, your two-bottle shipment will become three bottles. If you are an SME member, your three-bottle shipment will become four. If you are an SME2 member, your four-bottle shipment will become five.

You may ask, “If I add the Explorer’s Wine Club will my discount change?” For “R” members going from two to three bottles your discount will remain at 15%. For SME members going from three to four bottles per shipment, yes – your discount will increase from 15% to 20%. For SME2 members going from four to five bottles your discount will remain at 20%.

The Explorer’s Wine Club will be comprised of six wines from the list below. Exactly which wines is dependent on demand and production levels, and has yet to be determined. Your input is always welcome. If you see something you are curious about let us know.
